2014! An amazing year at Lori Boe Floral Design!!

oh me oh my- world's worst blogger coming through!  My last post was from 2013- and here we are at the end of 2014!! So once again I will do a quick review for all of 2014- yowzers!

  I had the most amazing time designing this year.  Things stayed organized and fun, my assistants did amazing jobs and we just overall really rocked it!! Had the opportunity to work with old friends and new, met some amazing new vendors and decorated some wonderful new venues!  Although I'm always happy for the down time during winter- ((or shall I say my family is?!)) I do so love my job and love when it starts up again in the springtime. 

Ah yes- and finally achieved one of my floral wedding vendor goals! Won the Best Booth in the florist-decorator category for the Fall Bridal Expo with Central Coast Bride! I may have jumped, screamed, and told them no way- but it really was me!

So below are some of my super fun favorite bouquets, each has a fun story, beautiful bride, and a special place in my heart, but enough with the mumbo jumbo! just look at the pretty pictures!

looooved these succulent boxes that went to a rehearsal dinner at Summerwood Winery.

Can't get enough of these Garden roses!  This collection of mauves, ivory and pinks was just dashing.

Peach and cranberry/plum are SO STUNNING!

fun textures, floppy flowing foliage, crystal compote vases- all went amazing at Denner Vineyard!

This was for one of my favorite gal's this year- Alma- you are the cutest little button!

As a fan of color--- these were spot on for one of my weddings at The Cliffs Resort

the ombre ribbon, the two tone dahlia, fuchsia garden roses. holy cow!

with each year I find 'myself' a little more in the designs that I create.  This year was my year of Astilbe and Olive Branches.  I had to have them in almost everything I made!! Wispy and whimsical meets sturdy and natural.  love.

 

Dahlias and Avalanche roses, I love the textures together and they are complimented perfectly in my rustic wooden boxes! boxes available for rent or purchase at my etsy shop.

one of my favorite 'backyard weddings' let me tell you- if I had a backyard like this one, well, I would need a few extra weddings booked to get me one!! It was so stunning, right outside slo in the Edna area.

POSSIBLY MY FAVORITE- It was May, (I was also a May bride 7 years ago) we were at Dana Powers Barn (I could live there if Judi would let me), and I made about 75 total feet of solid white floral table runners. Still so insanely in love with the fun details, mercury glass elements, and not to mention an absolutely stunning bride that is also one of the sweetest most down to earth ladies I got to work with! yippee!

I love me some pops of color! and a bridal shower for Jackie in my own backyard!

oh Summerwood Inn- how I have come to obsess about you! I think this venue will be one of the most desirable upcoming venues, beautiful- and amazing people!

 

Overall the best year yet! These images are just a tip of the ice burg that we tackled, and what a great time it was!  I for sure could not have done it with out my amazing, talented, wonderful, beautiful,

best in the whole world assistant, helper, friend, business question answerer, adventurer, and yep- she's my sister too!! Thank you so much Krista for all that you do for me.

 

 

 

 

Making up for Lost Time!

So 2012 was a wonderful (and BUSY!) year for me.  I had some amazing clients, got to work with new and amazing vendors and venues, but above all, had a beautiful and amazing little baby boy!!!

He is almost 1?!?! what the heck happened to the past year?  Well, I will show you:

 

Below are a few of my bouquets from the 2012 wedding season.  I had about 1-3 weddings per weekend, and each one was special and unique and I have fond memories from each!

Left: Peony, dahlia, liziahtus roses, viburnum. 

Right: sunfulower, dahlia, lizianthus, calla lily, craspedia

 

 

The above are all such fun and textured garden style bouquets.  I like to include fun and unique accents and pops of texture throughout the bouquet or on the stems.  Things like thistle, succulents, burlap, or a personal charm can really make your bouquet one of a kind!

 

I am a little obsessed with the two I have above, these garden roses are to die for!  And the frangrance as I arrange them.... woooo weeee!

 

Can't forget about those boys!  Here are a few of my favorite boutonnieres I was lucky enough to create.  I'll let you guess which one was my husbands favorite :)

 

 

As the year went along and moved closer to fall, more of these rich fall tones were evident.  I LOVE the combos on both these bouquets!!

 

 

The above was my all-time favorite for the 2012 year.  her name is Tamar and she was a wonderful client and let me have fun with her bouquet deisgn.  Tons of texture, unique accents and cool tones really set the mood for her garden setting wedding.  Blue Thistle, Silver Brunia, and Green Dianthus really gave the soft roses and dahlia a contrast of texture.  I could stare at it for days!  We wrapped the stems in a vintage lace dress remnant for the perfect compliment to her outstanding gown!

 

I want to say a quick thank you to all of my clients that I had this past year.  I really am blessed to have the job that I have and especially that the brides that come to me are open to my design ideas and are so sweet to colaborate with me and work together to make their visions a reality.  I am also so thankful to the awesome vendors I get the pleasure to work with, and each one of you has helped me so much along this journey and as my business grows I learn so much from all of you and hopefully each year I can be of better service than the last.

Rentables!

This is something I keep meaning to post but somehow never get the time!  I have a wonderful, eclectic collection of vintage items that I offer as rentals for my events.  This collection is contantly being added to, since I am a bit of an antique and estate sale nut... something I have always loved to do!!

candelabras, white ceramic vintage pitchers and vessels, a wide collection of old rusty stuff too! (many more in the photos below too...)

One of my favorite uses for these is an entrance table, dessert table, or focal area.  Somewhere that your guests will get a chance to look over everything and add some interest, depth, and personality to these otherwise semi bare areas.







A large collection of vintage doilies, so fun to tuck in different areas!  Mirrors, crystal and silver dishes and dessert trays.  Now these are not just for desserts, it is fun to stack favors or candies on these too!  Incorporate your programs into a grouping of items for a vintage feel.

Trunks and suitcases!  So fun to stack any goodies on.  And my never ending collection of clear vintage glass bottles and jars, these are great in little grouping throughout your wedding.  On a bar, in bathrooms, entrance tables, dessert tables, and my favorite--- group 5-10 together in the center of each table, maybe on top of a burlap square, and have small bunches of flowers or a few stems to add height differences and interest to your guest tables.  Doing rectangular banquet tables?? Even better!  a few small grouping of 2-3 down the center of the table works great and wont take up the valuable space.  Put them on a few stacked old books, or slats of old barn panels.  Cost effective and Beautiful!

I've got stacks and stacks of fun colored old books, a constant find during my estate sale shopping trips.  Took me a long time to collect, but so happy I have them!  I like to search for interesting cover art, color schemes, and best of all- love inspired titles.  I know they say not to judge a book by it's cover... but that is exactly what I do!!

My Typewriters, ahhh, sigh,  I love these gems.  Both irriplacable to me.  Great for a guestbook area.  A really fun focal point for display!!!







Got Milk??!!  I have a collection of over 30 milk glass vases.  Fun to line down those long tables and have a few Crespedia (Billy Balls) for a fun bright pop of mustard yellow.  really anything goes for these!

I filled each one of these with one or two flowers, using Crespedia, Gerbera Daisy, and Dusty Miller at my most recent bridal expo, it was a great focal point, got a great response from the brides, and was very cost effective and fits great in this old coke box I have.  It also looked beautiful on my dining room table the week following! :)

Paper Wedding Bouquets! Check out my Etsy

So here is a new venture I am going on!  I have already told you all about the Etsy Shop, LoriBoeDesign, where I share and sell my new creations that are wedding related, and the newest addition is my paper, silk, and cotton flower bouquets.  Below is my all paper bouquet titled 'Mustard and Gray" and is composed of handmade (by me!) origami and rolled textured paper flowers.  I abolutely love this color combo and have been seeing alot of it lately.  The center of the Origami flowers are adorned with a button, for a little extra home made style.

The papers I am using are very high quality, heavy cardstock, and this particular bouquet uses several different shades of mustard yellow, which I think adds to the texture and interest quite a bit.  The stems have been wrapped in a chocolate brown, and have a twine knotting going all the up to the base of the bouquet.  Also, what a great keepsake these make from your wedding!! Plop it in a cool vintage vase and you now have a beautiful bouquet that will never wilt!

Let me know your feedback on these too, it is a new idea I had, I have seen them around and thought "I can make those! and they are so adorable!" Also the single flowers by themselves could be used for all kinds of wedding decor.  One at each placesetting, or maybe strands of them hanging from a ceiling or tree would be amazing!

 Above is another I made of a combination of printed papers in a mixture of antique blue, chocolate and mocha browns, taupe and cream colors.  I tied the stems with a vintage inspired ribbon for a fun added texture, and something fun to hang as you walk down the aisle.  The above right is the bouquet on display in a vintage milk jug that I have, love it on my mantle!

And of course if you are looking for items for your full bridal party, or items for other areas of your wedding, just ask!  I am always happy to create custom orders for my gals!

 So all of the above are made of paper, and below I will show you a mixture of the silks and handmade cotton and burlap!  These are just stunning, and can be made in any color scheme you can think of. 

At the top of the bouquet is a handmade cotton fringed layered flower with black rhinestones at  the center.  The larger flowers are silk peonies and ranunuculas, in creamy ivory and blush pinks.  These are all filled with fuzzy dusty miller leaves and hand rolled burlap rosettes.  I can get enough of it!!  Very elegant, but still rustic and chic, perfect for a barn or outdoor wedding.  Again, these can all be made to custom order, or quantity, simply check out the Etsy Shop!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my new creations, of course, my favorites will always be fresh flowers!  But these are some fun and unique options to think outside the box, I also plan on making a few samples of combining the two, this would be a great way to incorporate new textures and match specific wedding color schemes!  So keep checking in to see what I can think up next!
